Helen Saunders

Physiotherapist

Amputee Specialist, Acupuncture

Helen is a Physiotherapist who specialises in the rehabilitation of amputees and individuals with complex orthopaedic injuries. She worked as one of the lead physiotherapists in the Complex Trauma team at DMRC Headley Court for 9 years where her primary caseload included amputees injured in conflict.

Helen qualified in 2004 and completed her NHS rotations at King’s College Hospital, London where she went on to specialise in MSK and orthopaedics.

Helen is actively involved in teaching and research. Whilst at Headley Court, she developed a specialised ‘return to run’ programme for amputees and has lectured on this topic at external conferences and has begun research in this field with Bath University. She is also currently studying for an MSc in Advanced Neuromusculoskeletal Physiotherapy at the University of Hertfordshire.

Helen attended the Warrior Games as the British physiotherapist in America and worked at the Paralympic Games in 2012 as a volunteer physiotherapist.
